Paramedical courses are being started in the University as they can assist the medical field professionals trained in pre-medical emergency treatment, medical assistance, diagnostic technology training, etc. Paramedics offer a wide range of courses to choose from in different sectors of the medical field. In contrast to the typical MBBS degree, paramedical courses are profession-oriented medical training courses that enable students to develop a career in the medical industry in a short amount of time and at a low cost. Paramedics are literally life-savers in life-threatening situations. They are usually the first to provide emergency care to those in need or in any medical help. In fact, they are well-trained to handle a situation that can be traumatic. They can respond to 911 calls for emergency medical assistance, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or bandaging a wound. They can assess a patient’s condition and determine a course of treatment, provide first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients. All the health care workers other than physicians, dentists and nurses who have special training in the performance of supportive health care tasks can be put under paramedics Examples are the emergency medical technician, audiologist, and radiological technologist. When not responding to emergencies, Community Paramedics can help people manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and prevent disease and illness through immunizations and screenings. They can provide information and counselling about ways to care for themselves and their families.
